At the end of the 80ies a commission under the chair of Bruno Kreisky produced a paper for a radical and new job creating policy.
Today we are facing more than 200 Mill unemployed people
worldwide, about 80 million are between 15 and 24 years old. Of course this mass of young jobless people creates waves of protests as we can see in North Africa and Spain. Not only is there a rise in unemployment but also casualisation of jobs and deteriorating working conditions.
Secure jobs are getting rare and at the same time there is a boost in nontypical and precarious jobs without social and legal security. Low-paying jobs are booming while assets and capital get more and more mobile and elusive. The result is a permanent pressure on wages.
We need a new Kreisky Commission and new socialdemocratic concepts.
Reduction in working hours, guaranteed youth employment, more women on the job market and a ban on precarious jobs!
